New Name - Waterside Academy

The school is changing its name from the beginning of September 2021, headteacher Ms Whelan has announced.

The school will be officially known as Waterside Academy, in tribute to our geographical location next to Regent’s Canal. The name sits alongside school values of care, challenge, confidence and courtesy. The heron logo was chosen by staff and students, as there is often one sitting by the decking outside the lunch hall.

The school will begin transitioning to the new name from September this year but will still officially be known as Hackney New School during the next academic year. Rebranding of
signage and stationery will begin but there will be minimal changes to the uniform. Students joining the school in September 2021 can purchase uniform with the new logo immediately.

All other students have two years to transfer.
