Why do I have to study Physical Education?

Physical Education (PE) plays a vital role in the development of young people. A healthy active lifestyle provides opportunities for students to become physically confident in a way which supports their health and fitness. As well as the obvious physical benefits, the subject promotes a range of social skills and encourages students to work together and develop leadership qualities.

Physical Education allows students to compete in sport and other activities to build character and helps to embed values such as fairness and respect.

How will I be examined?

There is no examination for Core PE.

What will I study?

Pupils will be taught to use a range of tactics and strategies to overcome opponents in direct competition, develop their techniques, analyse and improve their performance through a variety of team and individual activities such as football, basketball, badminton, table tennis, dance, athletics etc.
